Railway Protection Force of Northeast Frontier Railway seizes 168.67 kg of ganja worth INR 16.83 lakh and arrests 2 people in a week.

DIMAPUR — The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) recovered approximately 168.67 kg of ganja worth INR 16.83 lakh from Agartala, Katihar, Bagdogra, Rangapara North, Lumding and Guwahati in the past week and also arrested two persons in connection with the seizure.
Additionally, RPF confiscated 475 bottles of liquor worth INR 1.05 lakh and arrested five persons, while it also arrested seven individuals involved in the theft of passenger belongings and successfully recovered six stolen mobile phones, one laptop and cash worth INR 1.19 lakhs from them during the same period.
An update from NFR chief PRO, Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, stated that the RPF of NFR recovered a total of around 3,706.937 kg of ganja valued at approximately INR 3.67 crore and apprehended 126 drug peddlers from the beginning of the year up to July 24.

It stated that on July 23, the RPF team of Katihar discovered an unclaimed consignment of ganja from one of the coaches of train no. 20503 (Dibrugarh–New Delhi) Rajdhani Express weighing approximately 51 kg and valued at around INR 5.10 lakh. It stated that the seized contraband was subsequently handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP), Katihar, for further legal action.
On July 24, the RPF team seized 169 bottles of liquor valued at approximately INR 71.60 thousand at Katihar Railway Station and arrested two persons in connection with the seizure. It stated that the arrested persons, along with the recovered liquor, were handed over to the GRP Katihar for further necessary action.
Again on July 20, the RPF team at Guwahati railway station arrested one person and recovered a stolen mobile phone worth INR 15,000 from his possession. Similarly, on July 23, the RPF team at Rangapara North Station arrested one person with a stolen laptop worth INR 35,000 from his possession.
It stated that all the apprehended persons, along with the recovered items and cash, were handed over to the respective station in charge of the GRP for further legal action.
It further mentioned that the RPF of NF Railway remains committed to the goal of a drug-free nation and maintains constant vigilance against the smuggling and transportation of contraband items at various railway stations and onboard trains.
