Railway Protection Force of NFR rescued 738 runaway children and 89 children and women during January to July this year.

DIMAPUR — The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) rescued 738 runaway children and 89 children and women from being trafficked and apprehended 9 traffickers during January to July this year. The rescued children/ women were handed over to respective Childline/ NGOs, parents and government railway police.
An update from NFR stated that RPF personnel rescued 16 runaway minors from various trains and stations across its jurisdiction in a series of operations from August 16 to the 19th.
On August 16, RPF personnel of Maligaon rescued two runaway minor children during escort duty of train No. 12346 DN. They were later handed over to Childline in Bongaigaon and Chirang respectively. On the same day, RPF of Dibrugarh rescued one minor boy and handed him over to childline, Dibrugarh.

On August 17, RPF of Dimapur rescued one minor boy and ensured his safe custody through Childline Dimapur.
On August 18, multiple rescue operations were carried out in Katihar, Purnea, Kokrajhar and Alipurduar in which 5 runaway minors from stations and trains were rescued and handed over to respective childlines or guardian after proper identification.
On August 19, RPF also rescued 7 minors from Guwahati, Kamakhya, Dibrugarh, Jalalgarh and Alipurduar railway stations and handed them over to respective childlines or guardian after proper identification.
It further stated that RPF of NFR remains committed to the protection of children in need of care and assistance. Passengers are requested to stay alert and report any unattended or suspected child to the RPF helpline number 139.
