Dimapur, Oct. 4 (EMN): The Railway protection force along with Crime Prevention and Detection Squad and GRP have arrested four habitual train thefts recently.
The team apprehended two persons identified as Afsar Ali of Begampur and Rukman of Araria (Bihar) from Katihar railway station platform No.1.
According to chief public relations officer (CPRO), during the search, one Lenovo laptop, INR 20,960, three mobiles handsets, one gold mangalsutra, one set gold earring and one gold locket were recovered from their bags.
The accused persons disclosed that they stole the recovered items from AC coach of Train no. 15903 at Katihar railway station. On further interrogation, they revealed that they had indulged in more theft cases and had been arrested earlier, the CPRO stated.
Based on their leading statement, a joint team of RPF and GRP conducted raids at Jalalgarh and arrested two more persons - Ranjan Kr Singh and Aftab Ansari along with four laptops which were stolen from passengers.
The GRPS, Katihar registered a case under section 414/34 IPC and 137/147 Railways Act.
