Dimapur, Jan. 11 (EMN): Advisor for School Education, KT Sukhalu on Monday inaugurated the 33rd-U Kukami Trophy Zunheboto Area Sports Association (ZASA) meet opening ceremony and DSCZ rostrum at Zunheboto District Sports Council ground in Zunheboto town.
The rostrum was constructed under LADP iconic project, a DPRO update informed.
The advisor also reminded that good roads are crucial for economic development and growth, bringing important social benefits. He affirmed that quality of work in roads shouldn't be compromised and informed that under Urban department, development for strengthening and carpeting of three major town roads within Zunheboto town had been sanctioned by the chief minister.
He reminded that construction of two-lane road from Chakabama to Zunheboto was being hampered due to many demands by the landowners and miscreants, which is affecting the progress of the work. He requested the district administration and police to deploy police personnel and take stern action against anyone disturbing and delaying the construction work.
He further urged the executive engineer NH to ensure that the contactors implement the project as per the specifications in the work order. He warned that if any lapses by the authority resulting in compromising the quality of work the officers or the contractors would be held accountable and penalised.
KT Sukhalu further exhorted the participants of the sports event to 'look at sports professionally'.
"Nagas naturally built with athletic bodies and gifted talents, would definitely have a bright future on the field of sports," he said and encouraged the 'sportspersons to have a clear vision on each one's goals first'.
He asserted that 'sports is an important component of every individual, society and country and that in one way or the other everyone is involved in sports- through participation or as spectators.' He shared that there are two kinds of sports- individual and team sports. He reminded the assembled teams about the importance of fostering team unity and spirit of sportmanship.
Kukami trophy, organised by ZASA, have 16 villages participating in football, volleyball and various other indigenous sports.
