IMPHAL, September 3: Barely eleven days after 5.5 magnitude lasting well over 10 seconds shook most parts of northeast India and Manipur in particular, another mild earthquake was reported in Manipur’s Ukhrul region on Saturday.
According to preliminary earthquake report of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the magnitude of the day’s quake was 3.8 in Ritcher scale and it occurred at 6.37 am with Ukhrul region as its epicenter.
However most of the residents in Ukhrul town, about 84 km north east of Imphal, are not aware of the day’s mild tremor. In Manipur, a strong earthquake was occurred on January 4 this year which claimed 10 lives besides damaging more than 2000 buildings.
