Mokokchung, March 28 (EMN): The Queen Mary Higher Secondary School (QMHSS) kicked off its 40th Annual Sports Week with Dr Mar Walling, Orthopaedic Surgeon IMDH, Mokokchung as the special invitee at the school ground on March 27.
Walling said during the programme that games and sports teaches us the value of teamwork and develop leadership qualities. He also encouraged the students not to focus only on studies but also engage in other activities so that they excel in what they aim for and become a pillar in building a better world.
He lamented that digital entertainment has replaced almost all outdoor activities, including sports which could make this generation unhealthy, obese and with poor mental health. He also said ‘technologies have made our life more efficient and easier but there must be a balance between all these things for a better and healthy lifestyle.’
“My advice to the students is to work with an open mind; with a productive mindset and enjoy life,” he said.
The annual sports meet of QMHSS will culminate on March 29. They are approximately 2500 students and four houses are competing in various sports events.
