PWD (NH) Nagaland has made clarifications on a few points with regard to SARDP work in response to the press statement issued by the general manager of Maytas-Gayatri (JV) and said non-payment by MoRTH/department is not true.
Chief Engineer, PWD (NH), Nagaland, Er. V Kehie, in a rejoinder today, said the department had awarded the work ‘Widening to 2 laning of Longleng-Changtongya road, Mon-Tamlu-Merangkong road, Phek-Pfutsero road and Zhunheboto-Chakabama road in the State of Nagaland’ to Maytas-Gayatri (JV) in the year 2011 and the work was scheduled to be completed in three years in February, 2014.However, the contractor had executed excess earthwork and jungle clearance without the approval of authority concerned for which revised cost estimate was necessitated, the CE said and added that the revised cost estimate was submitted to the ministry concerned in New Delhi for approval. He explained that payment for excess work cannot be paid by the authority concerned unless the revised cost estimate gets approved which is known to the contractor.
The CE also said although there is fund provision for other sanctioned items such as GSB, bituminous work, culvert, retaining walls etc., the contractor did not carry out the work despite the department issuing several letters to execute the other sanctioned items.
Therefore, non-payment by MoRTH/department is not true, he stated.
