Dimapur, Dec. 21 (EMN): The Purana Bazar Village Council in Dimapur has demolished a wall that was stated to be illegal, and encroaching into the area of a government official at Purana Bazar in Dimapur.
The council has assured that they will find out who the encroachers are, while also warning that the community leadership will not tolerate encroachers.
The Purana Bazar Village Council issued a press release to the media on Saturday informing about the demolition of the structure.
‘The Purana Bazar village council has demolished the illegal wall erected in the vicinity of the official residence of the director, Land Records and Survey, located at Middle colony, Purana Bazar,’ the press release informed.
On noting that the land of the official residence of the director of Land Records & Survey was been encroached by an unknown person by erecting a wall, the middle colony council submitted a representation to the deputy commissioner of Dimapur for necessary recourse.
‘However, despite repeated appeals, the administration did not take any action which has compelled the village council to intervene and take action against the illegal encroachers by demolishing the illegal wall which has been erected,’ the press release stated.
‘The council would like to state that it cannot allow the illegal encroachers to freely carry out the illegal activities under its jurisdiction without prejudice, and warned the encroachers to desist itself from carrying out such illegal activities as the council will not remain silent in the issue under any circumstances.’
“The village council taking serious note of these illegal activities is determined to find out the responsible encroachers and to find out under whose direction and order this encroachment has been taking place and the council will initiate necessary action against the guilty by exposing them and filing FIR against them.”
‘The village council would also like to inform all the government offices and departments within the jurisdiction of Purana Bazar that Purana Bazar is a traditional village of the Kacharis and all lands which has been occupied by the different departments has been donated by the land owners free of cost without taking any land compensation for the development of the village and not for any individual or authority to encroach it.’
The council reminded that many lands are still required for development of the village such as land for the construction of the East Dimapur Town Council’s office and the extra additional commissioner’s office etc.
‘Therefore, the departments who are not in a position to develop the land which has been donated by the council, to take the liberty to vacate the land to pave ways for other development and not encroach it arbitrarily as the land belongs to the village which is protected by Article 371 (A) of the Constitution,’ the press release stated.
‘The village council requested the district administration and the department of Land Records and Survey not to issue any land ‘patta’ be it private or government occupied land without the consent or recommendation of the village council and GBs to curb such land encroachment in the near future.’
The council stated that the village council visited the private residence of the director to apprise him of the situation and the action to be initiated by the council. However, the director was not at home and the council could not meet him,’ the press release stated.
