Dimapur, July 24 (EMN): The Purana Bazar Village Council has clarified news reports in the local newspapers on July 24 that reported the name of a road in connection with a person who was arrested by the police for selling black SIM cards.
The council issued a press release to the media on Wednesday.
The council stated: “Purana Bazar Village Council would like to make a clarification before the general public and the authority concerned that there is no road by the name ‘Muslim colony road’ or Muslim colony within the jurisdiction of Purana Bazaar as was published in the local dailies on 24th July 2019, where the police apprehended a person by the name Nizamul Haque the proprietor of JR Travels for selling black SIM card.”
The village council denounced the accused for ‘misleading the police in the identification of the address.’ The village has requested the police to ‘be aware of the false information provided by the accused person and cross check the address before making it public.’
For the information of the public, the council stated that there are six colonies in the jurisdiction of Purana Bazar ie., Model colony, Jorapukri colony, New colony, Mount View colony, Middle colony and High School colony.
There is no Muslim colony or road within the Jurisdiction of Purana Bazar, the council stated.
‘The council would also like to request the police to take stringent action against the accused Nizamul Haque for misleading the public and tarnishing the image of Purana Bazar and also confirm that the accused is a habitual offender and therefore his trade license is liable to be cancelled,’ the press release added.
