Dimapur, November 16: People in Pughoboto, under Dimapur district, celebrated their festival Thuwu-ni on Wednesday, the second day of the 3rd edition of said event. The event was one where people also learned about art and music. The festival was held on November 15.
Opening the entertainment section of the festival, local music hero Alobo Naga urged the crowd to work toward clean elections in Nagaland if the people are to have the development that they wish. He explained that the people need to change mindset and cast vote without taking money.
Also, a theatre group from Dimapur called Dreamz Unlimited also performed a play depicting ‘how the public seek fulfilment of their needs from the political leaders before and after the elections.’
Finalist of the Indian Idol event in 2009, Amit Paul, who hails from Shillong in Meghalaya, enthralled the gathered music lovers with popular Hindi songs. The minister for Roads & Bridges Y Vikheho Swu and his wife joined the singer on the stage. Paul acknowledged Vikheho Swu, Alobo, Kito and all his fans for inviting him to perform at Pughoboto.
Further, runners-up to the Hornbill Rock Contest in 2010, Incipit, and another group, the Aphuyemi band, also performed during the musical celebrations.
The minister and other officials gave away prizes to the winners of various skill development programs. Likewise, a successful candidate from Pughoboto sub-division who qualified as deputy superintendent of police from the Nagaland Public Service Commission examinations was felicitated at the honours.
