As a concerned citizen of Dimapur, I earnestly appeal to the authorities—particularly the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the Government of Nagaland—to urgently consider the construction of a pedestrian flyover (footbridge) at the Burma Camp junction and other high-risk points along the National Highway that passes through Dimapur.

Every day, countless commuters—including students, senior citizens, and daily wage earners—struggle to cross the highway safely, especially during peak traffic hours. The lack of a dedicated pedestrian overpass not only creates disruption and delays but poses a serious risk to life and safety. There have been numerous accidents and near-misses in this area, many of which could have been prevented with proper infrastructure.

The construction of a pedestrian flyover would provide a safe and secure crossing route, greatly benefiting pedestrians and reducing the risk of tragic incidents. It is the duty of the concerned authorities to ensure that highways are not just vehicle-friendly, but also pedestrian-safe.

I sincerely urge the responsible agencies to prioritise this pressing safety concern and take immediate steps toward the construction of pedestrian footbridges at vital points, beginning with the Burma Camp junction.

Such a step will go a long way in promoting public safety, easing traffic congestion, and ensuring peace of mind for all road users.

Sincerely,

Kambui Rongmei

A Concerned Citizen
