Dimapur, June 16 (EMN): Developers of Player Unknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) has announced that the game will get a new map called "Taego" next month.
Previously referred to as Codename: Tiger, the new map is an 8x8 sq km map similar to maps like Miramar and it will likely please old PUBG fans. PUBG is definitely looking back at its roots and has gone back to its large-sized classic maps for inspiration.
You can watch the trailer below to get a good look at the new map.
As we can see in the teaser trailer, Taego is a coastal landmass and it looks like the map will be divided into two parts separated by a river. Taego will be based in Korea, likely as a tribute to the game's South Korean company, Krafton Inc.
Taego is confirmed to be launching on July 7 on PC in update 12.2.
PUBG has recently added a few new maps to the game, however, they were all small-sized and it affected the pace of the gameplay. The smaller map size meant that players were forced into engagements quite more often than they would have liked.
The news of a large-sized map will definitely please a lot of veteran PUBG players who might relish the slower pace that classic maps offered due to their size.
The developers have confirmed that another 8x8 map is coming after Taego. Codename: Kiki does not have an official name or release date yet. We will keep you updated as soon as we hear anything new.
