The two-day sports meetof Pfuchatsumia Students Union (PSU) got under-way at Christ King ground, with Kevidezo Peter Rutsa, President, Northern Angami Youth Organization (NAYO) as the chief guest.
In his address, Rutsa urged to the players to give their best in taking part in games and sporting activities and also stated to be a professional player one has to devote time to whatever games he/she takes part. He also congratulated the PSU for organizing the sports meet and there should be healthy competition amongst the team.Further he also lauded the KVYO in taking a bold decision to re-introduce many sporting actives which were played amongst the village during the past years and hoped this would go a long way in scouting talents amongst the players from Kohima village. PYO President Vimhalie Pienyu said that the sports players from the sports meet will be pick –up to represent P. Khel for the 62nd Kohima Sport Village Meet, 2016 schedule from January 5 to 9 and also informed that the PYO Athletics and wrestling meet will take place on December 19 and called upon the Khel members to be ready and prepare for the meet.
Earlier the function was chaired by Kevihezo Rutsa, general secretary, PSU, invocation prayer was given by Ruokuovituo Rutsa, asst Catechist ,CKC, welcome address was given by Theyiesanyii Kevin Sote, President PSU, special number was presented by Miss. Mhaphruonuo Rutsa and co and the oaths taking to the players was given by Teisovilie Sote, Games and Sports Secretary, PSU.
Altogether five teams such as-Juvenile Club, Light Club, Phoenix Club, Seasons Club and Tsiekedi Club are vying for the competitions in the following games and sports events such as Badminton(Men’s and Women’s) , Basketball(Men’s and Women’s) , Chess(Open) , Football(Men’s) , Table Tennis(Men’ and Women’s) and Volleyball(Men’s and Women’s).
