Dimapur, Aug. 20 (EMN): The Phom Students’ Conference (PSC) has demanded the Department of School Education to post the District Education Officer (DEO) and Sub Division Education Officer (SDEO) at Longleng on or before Aug. 31. A press release from the PSC on Monday, while stating that the department has been functioning without the Head of Department, the Conference expressed dismay at the “lackadaisical attitude” of the department even after submitting representation to the department on May 20. The PSC ‘expect impressive results’ from the department, it added.
Further, the conference has queried the department in concern and the state government, whether they will look into the matter only after the conference takes up some hard measures like agitation, protest and shutting down of offices under its jurisdiction. The conference also asked the state government if they were unaware of the retiring HODs under DEO and SDEO of Longleng or was it the failure on the part of the concern department to apprise the same, the press release added.
The PSC also cautioned the department of posting an official who is on the verge of retirement, have an ill health or for a time being. The PSC further asked all the teachers’ posted under Longleng district to be stationed and perform their duties sincerely, failing which the PSC will initiate its own course of actions against them.
It stated that from June 13 to 15th, the PSC conducted surprise inspection on various departments under Longleng district. During the inspection, it has come to their notice that most of the HODs and staffs are out of station. In addition, the HODs and staffs report to their office only at the end of the month. Therefore, , the
PSC has warned all the concern HODs and staffs posted at Longleng district that such negligence on their part will be dealt seriously as the public are facing hardship and inconvenience for their negligence, the PSC stated.
