Kohima, Mar. 2 (EMN): Following allegations that some votes were illegally cast through postal voting at 8th Western Angami assembly constituency, supporters and party workers of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party's (NDPP) candidate Kevisekho Kruse assembled at the office of the deputy commissioner of Kohima on Fri. demanding nullication of the ‘illegal votes.’
Talking to Eastern Mirror, the general secretary of the NDPP's western Angami unit, Ravolhouto Whiso said some people forged the ‘polling duty list’ and cast votes illegally through postal ballots and that genuine voters were denied exercise of their franchise on the day of polling.
Alhough there was commotion and shouting among the supporters who demanded that the illegal votes cast be nullified and genuine voters be allowed cast their votes, the day passed off without any violence.
