Diphu, Aug.17 (EMN): The Karbi Students Association (KSA) of the Jameson Timung faction held a protest infront of Semson Sing Engti Memorial Park in Diphu on Wednesday for the alleged involvement of Mandals and SKs for land compensation at the ongoing 4-lane road construction along the NH-36 stretch in Karbi Anglong.

The KSA members alleged that several Mandals and SKs are acquiring lands illegally. The members said that the culprits have prepared land pattas in their names or their children names without the knowledge of the land owners.

During the protest, the KSA activists shouted slogans like ‘Tensing Rongpi go back’ while demanding action against the alleged Mandals and SKs acquiring land illegally.

The president, of KSA Diphu Regional Committee, Bishnuram Phangcho said the Joint Secretary, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tensing Rongpi, who is in charge of Competent Authority Land Acquisition (CALA) at the ongoing construction work should come up with land compensation issue as several genuine land owners are being deprived.

He also alleged that places like Amlokhi areas under Section 6 Block-2 are also facing such issues though it does not connect to the 4-lane construction site.

The KSA during the protest demanded CEM KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang to terminate the jobs of those Mandals and SKs who are allegedly involved in grabbing of land without giving due compensation to genuine land owners.
