Diphu, April 18 (EMN) : Following a strike called by the students' body Assam University Diphu Campus Students Union (AUDCSU) at Assam University Diphu Campus on April 17, the teachers community of the Assam University Diphu Campus Teacher's Association (AUDCTA) also organised a sit-in demonstration in front of the campus gate on April 18 Wednesday.
During the protests, AUDCTA placed a list of demands including immediate release of the amount released for Diphu campus and Silchar campus since the inception of AUDC (2007) in white paper, inclusion of the AUDC faculty in the seniority list of Assam University, Separate research cell and examination branch for Diphu Campus, No Objection Certificate (NOC) for applying passport should be issued by the AUDC authority, full-fledged canteen at AUDC and e-filling administration in AUDC along-with 14 more demands.
Talking to Eastern Mirror correspondent, general secretary of the AUDCTA Prof. Dr Vuli Dhanaraju said that the vice chancellor Prof. Dilip Ch. Nath agreed to constitute a high level committee to incorporate Diphu campus for representation into a constitutional position of the university.
The vice chancellor assured his visit in May to resolve the charter of demands submitted by AUDCTA.
During the protest all classes were forced to remain closed.
