Proper V win Kohima Open Penalty shootout

KOHIMA — Proper V from Chümoukedima district emerged as champions of the 1st Open Penalty Shootout Tournament, organised by Impact Club, played at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, on Saturday.

The Chümoukedima team defeated Tribal United 4-3 in the final shootout to take the title. The champion team was awarded INR 60,000, while runner-up Tribal United took home INR 30,000, an update stated

A total of 40 teams from different district participated in the tournament. Earlier, Tribal United defeated United Brothers 4-3 in the first semifinal match and Proper V beat Five Stars 5-3 in the second semifinal match.

In the final match, Proper V custodian Khoazang Konyak, who was named the best goal keeper and received INR 5000, made two spectacular saves to help his team clinch the title.

According to Impact Club, the tournament was organised to encourage youngsters to participate in positive and productive events, where they can also sharpen their skills and develop sportsmanship spirit.
