Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Minister Lal Thanzara today gave away promotional cash award Rs.40, 000 each to selected 10 Mizo feature films in a programme held for the purpose here at I&PR Conference Hall.
The recipients of the Cash award include - C.Hmingthangvunga’s ‘Tluangtei’, ‘Zodinpuii’ and ‘Khuanu Samsuih-I’; Lalawmpuia Khiangte’s ‘Beiseina in’; C.Lalvunga and Jerry Lalngaihzuala’s ‘NH 54’; Lalduhkima Khiangte’s ‘Hmangaihna Rinawm’; KC Zoherliana’s ‘Inhlanna’; Lalmuanpuia Renthlei’s ‘Khua Ruatloh’ and Kawl Eng’ and VL Peka Zote’s ‘Bumna Rah’.
With these, since the formation of MFDS, promotional cash award has been given to 13 Films. Film Certification Committee under I&PR made the selection for the promotional cash award.
Speaking on the occasion Minister Lal Thanzara said that Mizo film industry has made progress since Mizoram Film Development Society (MFDS) came up under I&PR.
The cooperation and dedication of the two has been producing good result, he added, and invited the Mizo filmmakers to come forward with more effort so as to make film industry a source of livelihood for the youth.
Saying that Film is made with art and science combined therefore the makers are very important, the Minister added that while effort as an organization is quite important, it is very much necessary to make effort as an individual too.
He called on the Mizo youth to take up professional courses in film Institutes in cities and prepare to make films to reach beyond Mizoram while touching on Mizo history and stories.
Saying that if used for its rightful purpose, films play an important role in guiding the societal life, I& PR Minister invited the film makers to put effort more and more.
I&PR Director Jim K.Chozah also spoke on the occasion and said that through MFDS the government takes initiatives so that better films may be produced in Mizoram and as a result of its initiatives a number of good films have been produced during the last two or three years. He mentioned that workshop, training, feature film competition, short film competition and other programmes have also been organized.
