The Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, has issued prohibitory order in Dhansaripar sub-division ahead of the polling in Nagaland on Monday, citing the movement of anti-social elements in the area, which may result in breach of law and order as well as endanger human life and properties.
The order said that such an action is necessary to preserve peace and ensure free and fair conduct of election process in the sub-division.
The prohibitory order restricts “assembly of not more than 5 (five) persons, carrying lethal weapons and firearms including lathis, dagger/ machete, sticks, spears, catapults or any other dangerous articles in the Dhansaripar sub-division”.
It will come into effect from 5 pm on February 25 (Saturday) to 5 am on February 27 (Monday), before resuming from 6 pm on Feb. 27 till further orders. “On the day of polling, a window period has been relaxed to facilitate the voters to part take in the electoral process,” read the order.
