La Ganesan being felicitated during his visit to Tamlu
Sub-division, Longleng, on Tuesday.
DIMAPUR — Nagaland Governor La Ganesan on
Tuesday said that progress thrives where there is synergy, and called upon all
the civil society organisations to partner with the government.
“Progress thrives where there is synergy. Our governments
both at the centre and at the state endeavour to bring infrastructure,
healthcare and economic opportunities to all its citizens. But without the
cooperation of civil society these efforts remain incomplete,” the governor
said.
Ganesan was addressing a gathering of heads of offices of
various departments and civil society organisations during his official visit
to Tamlu subdivision under Longleng district, a DIPR report stated.
The governor said his visit to the subdivision was guided by
two core objectives - to assess the developmental initiatives in sectors such
as education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure to ensure they align
with the needs of the people, and to listen to the concerns of the community,
understand their challenges, and incorporate their aspirations into
policy-making.
“My mission here is simple - to listen, learn, and
collaborate. Development is a collective effort, and I am here to strengthen
the bonds between the government, civil society, and every citizen,” he said.
He acknowledged the challenges faced by various government
departments, particularly in improving road connectivity, healthcare,
education, and agriculture, and commended their efforts despite constraints.
Ganesan also praised civil society organisations for their
role in advocating justice, bridging gaps, and empowering communities.
He urged community leaders to foster peace through dialogue,
mutual respect, and unity. He also called upon the youth to embrace good
citizenship, respect the law, and take pride in their cultural heritage while
contributing to communal welfare.
The governor also engaged in an interactive session with
civil society organisations and participants.
B Bangtick Phom, MLA, who also spoke at the event,
highlighted the progress achieved in Tamlu over the past two years under the
leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. He credited the “opposition-less
government” for various developmental strides in the region.
The MLA also raised pressing concerns, particularly the
long-standing border disputes between Namsang villages and Assam’s Ahom
community. Bangtick urged the governor to intervene in the issue of
encroachment and the Ladigarh village dispute to ensure lasting peace and
security for the people.
Additionally, he sought the revival of key infrastructure
projects in the region.
Other speakers at the event including presidents of Phom
People’s Council and Namsang Citizen Union also shared their perspective on
local issues.
The programme was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner,
Tamlu, T Lankonsen Tsanglao.
Later, a security coordinator meeting was held with the
district administration and police officials.
