Imphal, Feb 19: With the arrival of spring in northern hemisphere, a flower plantation cum ‘let our town bloom with flowers’ initiative has been taken up by LeTz pAiNt tHe EaRtH gReEn, a facebook group of professionals working in diverse fields in collaboration with Blooming Manipur in presence of concerned town authorities in the heart of Khwairamband Keithel in Imphal on Sunday morning.
A good number of flowering and foliage plants were also hanged around the women market complex using hanging baskets while different small sized ornamental plants were planted under the Imphal overbridge.
A member of LptEg said such initiative is need of the hour to make the town and market places neat and green for a bright future. Suggesting that women vendors of the market must be encouraged in taking care of the flowers, a shopper in Imphal town observed that the concerned authorities also must encourage and support those individuals who come forward for adoption of the flower plants to make the market adorable and become a pride for everyone.
Director N Gitkumar of Manipur Housing and Urban Development and the Imphal Municipal Council Mayor S Sunil led officials, volunteers of Blooming Manipur and LptEg during the plantation drive in Imphal market.
LptEg members also conducted similar plantation drive in Tumuyon Khullen in Senapati district and Chingmeirong Maning Leikai in Imphal on June 4 and September 11 last year.
