Dimapur, October 6: A one-day orientation programme on youth entrepreneurship development for the vulnerable group of youth in and around Chumukedima was conducted on September 30 at CPO Hall by Pro Rural, in collaboration with Quest Alliance and Accenture.
Thungbemo Patton, EAC Chumukedima, who was the special guest of the programme, expressed gratitude to Pro Rural for taking up such an important project for the vulnerable youth in Dimapur. Patton, in his speech, shared his testimony of how he struggled to become an officer. He said there is no substitute for hard work.
“If you want to achieve something in life, you need to set the dream clear and keep the hope alive and always be motivated by your dream” he said. He also emphasised on the importance of knowing and accepting oneself towards building a better society. Mrs. Neibuno Khro, Advisor of Mothers’ Association, Chumukedima, reminded that aspiring entrepreneurial youth cannot compromise vision, sincerity and hard work. Khro also inspired the participants by sharing her testimony how she struggled to establish four shops in Chumukedima.
In the input session, resource person Lezo Putsure, Director of YouthNet, categorically mentioned that in any business at the initial stage goes through struggles for few years. Likening business to building a house, he said if the basic foundation is strong you can build up storeys.
While highlighting on the project, Adahe Neli said Dimapur, being the only commercial city for Nagas, said each year hundreds and thousands of young people are continuously migrating to explore economic and job opportunities. Neli strongly felt that Naga traditional concept of dignity of labour was needed to be inculcated amongst the younger generation.
Kikrupanuo Hama chaired the programme, while Athilu Khrasi said the welcome address and L Kamo proposed the vote of thanks.
