Dimapur, May 19 (EMN): An organisation 'Private College Association Nagaland,' which was formed as an organisation to 'advance collegiate educational system in Nagaland,' has instated its constitution.
Updates informed on May 19 that the group has also undertaken a number of resolutions.
The organisation issued a press release to the media on Sunday informing about the event.
The press release stated that the college managements' association of Nagaland had unanimously decided to form an association under the banner 'Private College Association Nagaland' on the 8th of Sept. 2018 at Immanuel College, Dimapur.
The objective behind the organisation emphasised on the importance of a common platform which will address not only the 'welfare of private colleges but also advance collegiate educational system in Nagaland,' the updates stated.
The formal constitution of the newly formed association was enacted on May 18 2019 at a general meeting of the organisation. The meeting was conducted at Cornerstone College in Dimapur, the press release stated.
"PCAN is a not-for-profit, voluntary, non-governmental and a non-political body. Its recognizes the local autonomy of the member college in terms of their internal management and operations," the organisation stated.
PCAN also stated to have declared in its memorandum recognition of the responsibilities that are to be fulfilled in higher education.
It recognizes education as a prime mover for well-rounded development of a progressive society, encompassing all the social, economic, cultural and emotional aspect that go into producing human capital, the press release stated.
"Apart from the discharging the duties as an educational association , PCAN also pledge towards corporate social responsibilities, philanthropy and charitable works," the association stated.
The organisation has taken a firm resolution to "enhance and promote ethical practices and academic integrity in all aspect and process of educational delivery and to develop Nagaland as an educational hub."
The members of the association are voluntary. All private colleges affiliated with Nagaland University, and private universities affiliated with the University Grants Commission that have a physical campus or college set up within Nagaland are deemed for membership, the group stated.
The new office bearers for the PCAN for the term 2019-2022 are led by Dr. PS Lorin, principal of Tetso College in Dimapur as the organisation's president. The association has also executive members.
