Dimapur, March 1: The department of Prisons organised a ‘farewell function’ for one of its outgoing officers Kedi Angami, Inspector General of Prisons (IG Prisons) on February 28 in Kohima town.
Kedi Angami joined the service in 1982 as Assistant Jailor. Having served in various categories, he retired as IG of Prisons on attaining 35 years of service in the department.
The function was attended by representatives from all jails in Nagaland, members of the Prison Service Association of Nagaland and the staffers of the directorate attended the function.
Rupin Sharma, the director general of Prisons, Civil Defenses & Home Guards, appreciated the outgoing officer’s contribution to the department. He described Kedi Angami as a ‘spontaneous officer who disposed matters and files instantly.’
Kedi Angami, in his address, encouraged the officers of the department to endeavour towards the uplift of prisons and to pursue reformation and rehabilitation of inmates.
