- DIMAPUR — The
deputy commissioner (DC) of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, on Tuesday
inaugurated a 10-day state level exhibition under Prime Minister's Employment
Generation Programme (PMEGP) at Naga Shopping Arcade, near Hotel Saramati,
Dimapur, as the special guest.
- Speaking at the inaugural programme, Dr. Chang stated that
showcasing products brought in by entrepreneurs from various districts of
Nagaland would inspire and encourage young and aspiring entrepreneurs. He,
however, bemoaned the absence of bank representatives and assured to raise the
issue in the meeting with the banking committee.
- The DC stated that job opportunities in the government
sector have become saturated and the best encouragement they could offer was to
promote entrepreneurship. In this regard, he expressed gratitude to the
Nagaland Khadi & Village Industries Board (NKVIB) for organising the
exhibition as it would serve as a source of motivation for entrepreneurs.
- Dr. Chang stated that the government has provided numerous
opportunities for entrepreneurs to avail loans through various schemes but
lamented that many people take loans solely for subsidy, which made banks
hesitant to provide financial assistance. He asserted that only through hard
work one could achieve their set target.
- A total of 40 stalls have been set up from all districts of
Nagaland, except Shamator and Noklak districts. The exhibition is being
organised with a holistic view to expose the entrepreneurs engaged in rural
industries. The wider objective was to encourage the local entrepreneurs for
self-employment, economic self-reliance and build up a strong rural community
spirit.
