MUCH has been written both in print media and social networking about the suspension of Neiphiu Rio M.P Lok Sabha from Primary and Active Membership of NPF Party.
In this connection many writers has emotionally written undermining the actual position of NPC before 2003 without knowing the ground reality at that point of time.
It is pertinent to mention that second cease-fire was declared in August 1997 and followed by political talk between NSCN (IM) and Govt. of India. Naga People led by Naga Hoho with a slogan “Solution not Election” and demanded to refrain 1998 election. Accordingly, NPC refrained 1998 election in support of Indo Naga Political Issue. Otherwise, NPC was strong enough to face any eventuality under the Leadership of Late. Vamuzo.
The Congress Party in Nagaland ignored the call of the Naga People and contested the election and formed Government. As a result many Nag leaders were tag “Anti-Naga” and recorded in Naga National History.
Subsequently, Congress Party published a booklet “Bed Rock of Naga Society” which has confirmed “Anti-Naga Tag”. The booklet was overwhelmly rejected by the Nagas in general. To put the record in straight about the change of nomenclature from NPC to NPF, decision was taken in a meeting held at Kohima in early part of 2002 under the NPC President ship of Late. Huska Sumi. Therefore, nobody can claim founder member of NPF who were in Anti-Naga Tag Congress Party or in any other Political Party in Nagaland. The decision to change NPC to NPF was taken by NPC leaders only at that point of time.
The NPF Leader like Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, Chubatemjen, T. Kikon, Noki, Thenuchu to name few sacrifices their position and given chance to Neiphiu Rio.
The resurgence of NPF in 2003 election was the answer of prayer by God which can be testified by many believers. Therefore, supporters of any leader be very careful while writing in support of your leader.
It is very painful to note that few narrow-minded and prejudiced writers tried to create tribalism out of Neiphiu Rio suspension which is very unfortunate. One should understand that your own writing reflect your own mindset. On the part of NPF Party in general are very happy to Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, that such a tall leader from Angami Tribe shouldered the responsibilities of NPF Party President at a time when leader from his own Tribe is trying to de-stabilise Party Govt. and NPF Party.
We salute Mr. President Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu for upholding party constitution and maintain justice without showing any bias and ism.
