IMPHAL, March 31
The proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) claimed responsibility for the bomb explosion occurred near the post of 40 Assam Rifles at Lilong under Thoubal district last night.
A statement of PREPAK publicity officer captain Achouba today said cadres from the Red Army’s Special Force Unit triggered the blast around 8:40 pm.
The attack could not inflict casualties on the side of the Assam Rifles.
The statement said the attack was carried out as part of the outfit’s routine assault launched against ‘Indian Occupation Force’ in the struggle to take back the sovereignty of Kangleipak (Manipur) ‘forcibly seized by the imperialist India.’
The outfit vowed to continue its offensive against the security forces until their goal is attained and free Kangleipak from the ‘colonist India.’
In the statement PREPAK also claimed its hand in exploding a powerful IED close to the residential gate of a special contractor at Irom Leirak in Khongman Zone V under Imphal East on March 23.
It said the blast intended to send a strong warning against Thingujam Munindro Singh who was instrumental in the arrest of a cadre of the outfit by police along with a 9 mm 20 pistol.
PREPAK also claimed that Munindro was active in collecting large amount of money from various government departments in the name of raising party’s fund.
It said Munindro should surrender to the outfit without any delay and appealed to local women organisations not to stage any form of agitation over the incident.
