Prepaid smart meters across Nagaland from February — Power department

• DIMAPUR — The Department of Power, in conjunction with M/s Nagaland Smart Metering Private Ltd. (NSMPL), will commence installation of smart prepayment meters in both urban and rural areas covering all categories of consumers across the state, from February onwards.

In a press release, the department informed that the installation of smart meters in prepayment mode is on account of multiple benefits which includes enhanced consumer satisfaction due to better control on usage of electricity, relief from the problems of delayed or incorrect billing, and minimising power outage due to unregulated usage of electricity.

“In this regard, all esteemed consumers are requested to cooperate with the department and M/s NSMPL for successful implementation of the programme,” the release stated.
