Dimapur, May 15 (EMN): Ahthibung Region Club (ARC), in collaboration with Peren District Hospital, Veterinary College in Jalukie, and Assam Rifles conducted a pre- monsoon medical and veterinary camp in Vongkithem village under Peren district on May 15.
Taking lessons from previous years, ARC took the initiative to counter and take precautions before monsoon hits the region. ARC vice chairman, Henpu Kuki, stated that the region suffered few human and animal losses due to extreme weather conditions and in lack of timely medical help last year.
He stated that a team of doctors from District Hospital, Peren, and Assam Rifles conducted the medical camp where 210 patients were treated. He added that local medical staff (ASHAs and village health chairmen) were sensitised for handling any eventuality during monsoons. The medical team also provided additional stock of basic medicines during the camp.
Taking the opportunity, Veterinary College, Jalukie, also organised a veterinary camp and treated 67 pets. Doctors and faculty along with ARC members extensively distributed the de-worming kits to the villagers.
Meanwhile, the village authority and women organisation of village have applauded the noble efforts undertaken by the combined team of health department, Assam Rifles and Veterinary College. The village council chairman, Seilal, has requested the team to conduct such camps on regular basis.
