- DIMAPUR — A mass social work was carried out
across Dimapur on Saturday, following a directive from Deputy Commissioner Dr.
Tinojongshi Chang as part of pre-monsoon preparedness measures.
- The mass social work began at 6 am and focused on activities
such as clearing clogged drains, clearance of construction material and debris,
clearance of foliage, waste disposal, cleaning and upkeep of public spaces and
utilities.
- During the social work, citizens of Dimapur—young, old and
even children—were seen taking active part in cleaning their respective houses,
neighbourhoods, drainage and roads while the shopkeepers cleaned their shop’s
surrounding area.

- The heads of all offices and institutions in the Dimapur
district also enlisted their staff members to clean their respective office
premises.
- The village councils, GBs/councillors supervised the
cleanliness drive, while Dimapur Municipal Council, East Dimapur Town Council
and the various village councils were in charge of garbage/debris disposal in
their respective jurisdictions.
- All shops and business establishments in the district
remained closed till 9 am.
