  • Pre-kharif campaign launched in Karbi Anglong

    Amarsing Tisso during the launch of the pre-kharif campaign ‘Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ in Karbi Anglong on Thursday.


  • DIPHU — The pre-kharif campaign ‘Vikshit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Karbi Anglong, kicked off on Thursday here at Farmers Growth Centre.

  • Member of Parliament Amarsing Tisso, who officially inaugurated the campaign, his speech, emphasised organic farming's benefits for health and highlighted the importance of oilseeds.

  • The campaign was organised in collaboration with Assam Agriculture University (AAU), Jorhat ICAR Institutes and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC).
  • The 15-day campaign will end on June 12.

  • The programme is based on two main objectives—to create awareness about the availability of government/financial schemes and to get feedback from the farmers.

  • Howrahghat MLA, Dorsing Ronghang, district agriculture officer Nobojyoti Dutta and other departmental officials were also attended the inaugural programme.

  • The objective of the abhiyan is to raise awareness among farmers about sustainable technologies for kharif crops, promote soil health cards for balanced fertiliser use, inform farmers about beneficial government schemes and, gather farmer feedback for future research and innovation.

  • A total of five development blocks, namely Lumbajong, Bokajan, Samelangso, Langsomepi, and Nilip, have been selected where the campaign will be organised in different villages under these blocks, officials from KVK stated.

  • The Abhiyan is implemented through two expert teams, each comprising scientists from ICAR, KVK, and AAU-ZRS, along with officials from agriculture, veterinary, and banking sectors, and ASRLM experts.

  • They will cover 200 farmers daily across two locations, focusing on tribal, aspirational, and geographically challenging areas. The campaign aims to boost crop production, reduce costs, and benefit farmers through scientific techniques and innovations.
