A mega credit camp for “Pradhan Mantra Mudra Yojana” (PMMY) was organized by the State bank of Mokokchung at town hall on September 9. The mega loan mela was officially opened by Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Sushil Kumar Patel (IAS).The basic proposed behind the financial loan camp was highlighted by K N Bharali, Chief Manager of SBI Lead Bank Mokokchung. He said that the Prime Minister of India Narendar Modi had launched many schemes for the economic development of the country, including extension of credit through various financial institution of the country. The Banker also stated that more focus has been given to the poor village people for their uplift of their economic condition / living standard up to an acceptable position, especially for the people living in remote and difficult area-0with poor infrastructural facilities.
He also informed the PMMY is divided into three categories which includes Sishu-Loan upto rupees 50000; Kishor- Laon from 50001 to 5 lakhs and Tarun- Loan above 5 lakhs and upto 10 lakhs. He however, lamented that the enrollment under this schemes performances was very poor in the district.
In this regard, he disclosed that the SBI is initiating this mega credit camp to spread awareness and to gain more enrollments under PMMY- for extending credit to micro entrepreneurs in manufacturing ,trading and service centre.
K N Bharali also disclosed that the Government of India has decided that the loan to this segment for income generation will be known as MUDRA loan under PMMY.
Representatives from different banks and insurance companies also partook in the mega credit camp and explained the objective of the scheme in details to the entrepreneurs’.
Representatives from Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industries also attended the mega credit camp.
Mention may be made here that the MUDRA (Micro Unit Development and Refinanca Agency) was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8th April 2015 as a new financial entity.
