Dimapur, March 24 (EMN): The Department of Power has expressed regret for its inability to deliver electricity bills timely for the past few months.
In a press release, Chief Engineer (D&R), Er. G. Chishi, stated that the situation has arisen due to the adoption of a new billing system (SAP) and a smooth transition from the old system to the new system, as envisaged, has not been possible, despite the best efforts of all concerned. Therefore, he said the delivery of bills has been affected.
He also said the recent closure of Government offices has further prevented rectification in the system for about a month.Chief engineer also informed that though the process to enable timely bill delivery is underway expeditiously, the consumers will receive electricity charges for a few months in a single bill. Further, the department requested the consumers to bear with the inconvenience caused.
