DIMAPUR — The sub-divisional officer (Electrical), Peren Electrical sub-division, Department of Power, organised an awareness programme on smart meter implementation and rooftop solar scheme at the Peren Town Council hall on July 4.
According to a DIPR report, the programme brought together government officials, technical experts and members of the public to discuss the benefits of smart metering and rooftop solar, both of which form an important part of the government's efforts to modernise the power sector and encourage renewable energy.
Resource persons from ANVIL conducted technical presentations on smart meters, highlighting features such as accurate billing, real-time electricity consumption monitoring and improved energy management.
Representatives from Elmechent Enterprise (RTS vendor) and A&D Solar (RTS vendor) also explained the rooftop solar scheme, outlining available subsidies, installation procedures and the long-term savings consumers can achieve by producing their own clean electricity.

Speaking on the occasion, ADC Peren Robin, AE (Electrical) Peren Tsiamchi Ndang, and Peren Town Council chairman Mireulung encouraged residents to actively participate in these initiatives, stressing that smart metering and solar energy would contribute to efficient electricity usage, reduced power costs and sustainable development.
The programme was chaired by Kidosap, SDO (Electrical), Peren.
