Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): With nine days remaining before the expiry of its ultimatum to the department, the All Nagaland Electricity Field Worker Association has announced that it will organise a protest from October 3.
In a statement issued on Monday, the association informed that this decision was taken during a meeting of its executive body.
It reminded that the association had served the Power department a one-month ultimatum on September 2.
The association has been demanding relaxation of qualifying years for promotion; to lift the ban of W/C appointment and maintenance of W/C strength as prescribed by the work-charged and casual employee commission for Power department; finalisation of proposal for post creation and regularisation of 266 field workers; and enhancement of risk allowance to the work-charged field workers at par with the regular field workers.
“However, in spite of the expiry of the ultimatum on October 2, the government is yet to consider the genuine plights of the association making the member of the association to work in great hardship,” it stated.
The association has directed its members to report to their respective headquarters by October 2 evening and wait for further instruction. It has also requested the citizens to bear with the inconvenience.
