IMPHAL, NOVEMBER 20: Young Poumai film maker Ashok Veilou’s 13 minute 33 second film ‘Tou-Tai’ (Seed) was declared the best in the short film category which concluded on November 18 at the week-long 22nd Kolkata International Film Festival.
The film was also screened in Kalpanirjhar International Film Festival 2016 and Filmingo Short Film Festival, Mumbai.
Ashok Veilou, a resident of Purul village in Manipur’s Senapati district, graduated in mass communication and video production from St Anthony’s College Shillong, Meghalaya, and presently pursuing his final post graduation Diploma in Direction and screenplay writing in Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, Kolkata.
His film Tou-Tai is a tale of Vio, a young insurgent who was caught at the crossroad during his short vacation at home because of the armed conflict in Manipur but decides to be in the jungle, according to synopsis of the film which was made available here.
