Organic produces put-up for sale at Porba village on the occasion of the farmer’s day on Sep. 6.[/caption]
Dimapur, September 7 (EMN): The Porbami Farmers Union (PFU) observed farmer’s day on Sep. 6 at the Panchayat Hall in Porba village, with the deputy director of Agriculture, Sanuzo Nienu as the chief guest.
According to an update received from the organisers, the chief guest in his address encouraged the farmers to take up organic cultivation practices for better health and higher income generation. He urged the farming community to increase the area under paddy cultivation and also to take up diversified farming.
Secretary of the farmers’ union, Vebi Chiero gave a presentation on different organic farming activities carried out in the village and the benefit obtained from it. He expressed gratitude to government, NGOs, and other financial institutions for providing support to the farming community.
On the occasion, the best farmer and the best upcoming farmer were awrded.
The programme was attended by officials from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, SDAO, Pfutsero, and NRLM.
