Polygon partners with Nothing to bring Web 3.0 to smartphones

Smartphone startup Nothing on Tuesday announced that it is partnering with Polygon to bring Web3 to its smartphone ecosystem.

Just days after launching its first android phone, the Nothing Phone (1), the company said that it is working with Polygon to launch NFTs (non-fungible tokens) on the Nothing Phone (1), which is set to be released on July 12.

Nothing’s Black Dot NFTs, as they’re called, will be airdropped to Nothing community investors from July 7, followed by customers that have pre-ordered the phone.

This is Nothing Community Dots.

The announcement comes after another blockchain and Ethereum alternative Solana announced its own Web3 enabled phone called Saga.

According to Nothing, the partnership with Polygon is aimed at enabling users to be able to tap into Polygon's decentralised applications withe Nothing's android products.

"The Polygon partnership will take Nothing’s Web3 plans a step further. Going forward, the company also plans to make its phone category and other ecosystem devices future-ready by enabling sustainable and secure access to Web3," Nothing said in an announcement.

Polygon, formerly known as Matic network, is a popular Ethereum layer 2 scaling solution founded by Jaynti Kanani, Sandeep Nailwal, Anurag Arjun, and Mihailo Bjelic in 2017. Polygon was built to mitigate key issues associated with Ethereum – high gas fees and network bottlenecks.
