Imphal, Oct. 2 (EMN): Politics is not to create division and to break the cordial relationship among various communities but to bring inclusive development and harmony in the state, said Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
Stating that the state government is committed to delivering good governance at the grassroots, the chief minister said that his government is action-oriented and has initiated various practical activities and the people would witness visible changes soon. He also said that the present government would give its priority to uplift the minorities and weaker sections of the society.
Singh was speaking at the All Manipur Muslims (Meitei Pangal) Welfare Association’s (AMPWA) silver jubilee celebration here in Imphal on Tuesday October 2.
Mentioning that various welfare schemes have been initiated for the welfare of the people and inclusive development in the state, he said the government does not discriminate anyone on the basis of religion, caste, and community.
Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a healthcare scheme “Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana- Ayushman Bharat,” said the chief minister. Such scheme would provide health assurance to around 50 crore Indians who are enlisted in SECC 2011 data, who will be given up to INR 5 lakh per year, he added.
The government also announced that a sum of I NR 2 crore has been earmarked in the state budget for the construction of women’s market at Lilong besides constructing model schools in minority-concentrated areas of the state apart from ‘Sadbhavana Mandap.’
A website of the AMPWA and scheme for skill development programme for youths and widows were launched during the function. A souvenir titled “AMPWA: The Journey of 25 years” was also released.
