- DIMAPUR — Jacob
Zhimomi, Minister for Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) and
Cooperation, said on Saturday that the present generation is greatly associated
with copying and pasting, implying a craze for overnight success.
- He noted that the times of one-night preparations are over
and claimed that politicians in Nagaland today no longer have the power to make
backdoor appointments.
- Zhimomi was speaking as the chief guest at the Homeland
Village Students' Union's (Niuland) golden jubilee on the theme
"Celebrating our legacy, shaping our future," according to an update.
- Crediting the alert and educated young Naga minds for this
phenomenon, Zhimomi highlighted that politicians today are powerless, as
evidenced by the government's decision to opt for free and fair appointments.
- He expressed concern that degree holders have become lazier,
while also reminding the gathering of Prime Minister Modi's initiatives, such
as Startup India, aimed at tackling unemployment and fostering entrepreneurship
in the country.
- Zhimomi urged the students to learn to respect one another
and remain humble in their pursuit of success. He called on the church bodies
to guide the youth, stating that Naga society is educated, and the youth must
work with a mindset of unity and cooperation for the betterment of society and
all-round development.
- He made a call for unity and cooperation, especially urging
the youth, who are the state's greatest assets, to lead the way.
- He stated that the union's 50 years symbolise the maturity
attained in various fields, including academics, sports, arts, music, and
craft, which also highlights the vital role of the students' union to date.
- Zhimomi was accompanied by the SDO of Niuland, the ADCP of Niuland, the Aghunaqa
EAC, and a host of other officials and dignitaries.
