Imphal, July 22 (EMN): All political parties meeting with Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh in the chair on Sunday resolved that a special assembly session be convened if required to discuss the possibilities of the ongoing peace talks between centre and NSCN (IM).
The meeting which lasted for about four and a half hour also discussed and deliberated on the latest development of the Framework agreement which was signed on August 3, 2015.
On Saturday, Manipur’s civil society organisations-All Manipur United Club Organisation, United Committee Manipur (UCM) and Committee of Civil Society Kangleipak have strongly reacted to a news reports which indicates possible implementation of Article 371 A of the constitution in Manipur based on a report of Framework agreement which was shared by talks Interlocutor RN Ravi.
The three bodies urged the ongoing Manipur assembly to discuss the Article 371 A and its impact in the ongoing assembly on July 23 and take a decision.
The day’s meeting of all political parties meeting, was convened to adopt a united consensus strategy on various issues confronting into the state relating to Indo-Myanmar border (Manipur sector) and Manipur University (crisis) too as there is the need to take into account the views of political parties which are not represented in the state assembly, according to a press note by newly appointed government spokesperson Th Radheshyam Singh.
The meeting resolved that “a committee of all political parties be constituted comprising one representative each on the issue of BP No.81” and “the members will visit BP No.81 along with the central team and other stakeholders for verification on July 24-25,2018.”
Besides it also resolved that “a pro-VC be appointed in accordance with the provisions of the Manipur University Act and that the fact finding committee be urged to initiate and conclude its proceedings within stipulated time.”
Interestingly, the day’s all political parties meeting was attended by office bearers of 21 regional and national political parties. The opposition congress did not attend the meet on the plea that the party has decided that the matter can be discussed in the ongoing assembly.
Manipur people Bill which had been introduced in the ongoing assembly on Friday would be taken up for consideration on July 23, according to the note of Radheshyam Singh who is the education minister in the ruling ministry.
