DIMAPUR — The Ang Mai-led NSCN (K) on Thursday affirmed that political dialogue with India will only be for sovereignty or anything above the Indian constitution, while it added that in case of temporary arrangement, it should be above the Framework Agreement and Agreed Position.
The NSCN (K) has issued this statement amid the stormy political factionalism among the Nagas and disillusionment brought about by the bilateral talks with the Government of India by the parties involved in talks.
It stated that against the backdrop of NNC’s Shillong Accord of November 11, 1975, surrendering to India, the founding fathers of NSCN (GPRN) laid the foundation of the Naga nationalism for sovereignty based upon the principle of ‘self-sufficiency, socialism and Nagaland for Christ.” It added that those three principles would be the guiding light throughout Nagas’ journey to freedom.
The NSCN (K) stated that Khaplang Plan of 1997 for peace and unity of Nagas within the principle of ‘forgive and forget’ as incorporated under the banner of Nagaland for Christ would remain irreversible. To ensure peace, prosperity and development in the entire Naga inhabited areas, it stated that peace with India and Myanmar would be initiated formally.
It also stated that NSCN and its Council of Naga Churches (CNC) would be actively involved in sowing the seeds of Nagaland for Christ in the entire Naga inhabited areas. Stating that Nagas have always kept its door opened for neighbours, it maintained that NSCN would not shy away from this moral responsibility.
“Nagas cannot serve both God and Mammon nor nationalism and factionalism. With change in century and generations, change in leadership, Nagas must only serve Naga nationalism and no other.
“Political dialogue with India will only be for sovereignty or anything above the Indian constitution. In case of temporary arrangement, it will be above the Framework Agreement and Agreed Position,” it affirmed.
It further stated that NSCN would not be a party to any NGO, civil society, political and government but only be the guardian of the Naga sovereignty.
