Police personnel undergo training on substance abuse

KOHIMA — A two-day capacity building training programme on substance abuse prevention for police personnel got underway at the conference hall of the Dimapur Police Commissionerate (DPC) on Tuesday.

The training is being jointly organised by the state-level coordinating agency (SLCA) of Kripa Foundation and Dimapur Police Commissionerate (DPC), stated an update from the organisers.

Speaking at the inaugural programme, the Dimapur commissioner of police, Kevithuto Sophie, encouraged the participants to train themselves with dedication so that they might be able to contribute to saving lives of people in their day-to-day work.

Informing that there are people in the force who have problems with addiction and alcoholism which could become a setback to the department, he emphasised requirement of capable people in the force to deal with those problems.

Meanwhile, Abou Mere, director of Kripa Foundation, stressed on the need for collective actions for effective implementation of harm reduction programmes in the state.

It mentioned that a total of 25 participants consisting of SI, UBI, ABSI, DCP, ADCP, havaldar, THC are undergoing the training.
