Dimapur, Dec. 27 (EMN): The Dimapur district police have arrested a number of underground activists on charges of “asking for money as donation in the name of Christmas.” The district’s police issued a press release on Wed. informing about the arrest.
On Dec. 20, the police informed, enforcement personnel arrested three persons “while they were asking for money as donation in the name of Christmas” from a shop at Khermahal police point at Circular Road in Dimapur.
The police informed that the arrested accused were identified as one self-styled “dy. secy” of the NNC (N/A) Sukhai Awomi of Aghulito village under Aghunato, Zunheboto and resident of Half Nagarjan near Science Centre; self-styled “home secy,” ‘(N/A)’ Tokaho Chopy of Zuheshe village in Niuland and resident of Sughuna Colony at Khatkhati of Karbi Anglong in Assam; self-styled “finance secy.” of the NNC (N/A) Hokato Rotokha of Tsuruhu village in Satakha of Zunheboto and resident of Balijan in Karbi Anglong of Assam.
The police informed that country-made small arms were found on the accused as well.
“In this connection, a case has been registered at West Police Station Dimapur for further investigation,” the police added.
