Police authorities of Kohima have arrested two persons on charges of stealing a vehicle, and named two more persons more, in this connection. The police issued a press release on Saturday informing of the event. On April 3 at around midnight, a joint team of the 13 Nagaland Armed Police (Indian Reserve) and Khuzama police personnel were conducting frisking and checking at Zero Point in Chakhabama when they happened into a Maruti Alto (NL07-6604, engine D060706228, chassis (X) MA8EYD81S00814290 (X) 16).
On being unable to produce any documents, the two occupants of the vehicle were detained on suspicion and for conducting further verification, police authorities said.
The two occupants were identified as one Kmugha, 23 years, of Naughato village under Zunheboto and Inato Aowomi, 33 years, of Shaipu village, also under Zunheboto district.
“When subjected to thorough interrogation, the duo revealed that they were asked to deliver the said vehicle at Dimapur by Panika Sumi and Kinato Sumi (both residents of Alahuto Colony, Zunheboto) and for which they will be paid Rs. 5000 each,” the police said.
The records of the vehicle were checked from the NCRB database. It was ascertained to be involved in a police case, the authorities said.
Banned drugs confiscated
Personnel of the Dimapur Excise department have arrested a woman on charges of smuggling banned drugs.
Authorities informed on Saturday that on April 2, enforcement personnel found 127 capsules of the banned Spasmoproxyvon and tablets of Nitrosun from the woman from Burma Camp in Dimapur. The catch was made during a search exercise, Excise authorities said.
A press release from Dimapur Excise informed that the woman, identified as one Ashili, has been arrested under ‘Drugs and Cosmetics Act.’ On the same day, one Chuba Imsong a resident of Naga Cemetery colony in Dimapur was also arrested after he was caught with 84 capsules Spasmoproxyvon and 6 tablet nitrosun, the authorities added.
