DIMAPUR — The Drugs Disposal Committee (DDC) of
Police Commissionerate, Dimapur, on Thursday destroyed seized narcotic and
psychotropic substances worth INR 34,82,87,425 during a pre-trial destruction
programme at DMC dumping ground in Burma Camp.
The destruction was carried by the committee headed by its
chairman and Commissioner of Police, Kevithuto Sophie along with members namely
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dimapur; Deputy Commissioner of Police,
Chümoukedima; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Niuland; and Superintendent of
Police (Crime), PHQ, Kohima.
An update from Dimapur Police stated that the destruction
was witnessed by representatives from Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland
districts administration and civil societies.
The narcotic disposed/ destructed pertains to 79 NDPS cases
registered across police stations of Police Commissionerate, Dimapur. It added
that the Drugs Disposal Committee (DDC) headed by the Commissioner of Police,
Dimapur, had conducted physical verification of the seized narcotics on ground
at the Prosecuting Inspector Office, Court Complex, Dimapur, on December 4.
The destruction items included 9.741 kg of brown sugar,
shanflower and heroin; 16,537 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon; 5 kg of crystal
meth; 2.450 kg of opium; 17,269 bottles of cough syrup; 2600 kg of opium straw
and 1,34,203 tablets of WY/Simplex-e.
