Dimapur, July 6 (EMN): Making a comparison between education and degree, wherein the former stands for intelligence and the latter as a gateway towards fulfilling certain criteria, Dimapur commissioner of police, Limasunep Jamir, has urged upon the students to choose between the two to achieve their desired goal.
Speaking as the special guest at the 25th annual social cum cultural day of the Immanuel College on July 6 on the theme ‘Enriching amalgamation of achievement,’ Jamir remarked that mere degree does not guarantee success.
Exhorting the students to develop self awareness, he also called on them to be rooted to their true self and understand their strength. "Look beyond money. If you ascribe success in terms of money, you will not be happy in life. Money will not buy legacy," pointed out Jamir.
The police commissioner also enlightened the students on two types of achievements-dishonourable achievement and honourable achievement where the former achievement was through unfair means and the latter through intellectual and moral virtue. He, therefore, called on them to replace harmful input with wholesome things.
Also lauding the college on attaining silver jubilee, Jamir said that jubilee celebration is a covenant between God and people and a time to forgive. He also added that student’s period is the best time of life because ‘we are still growing and receptive to accept ideas,’ conveyed Jamir.
Chairman of the college governing body, Dr. Loso Chalai, exhorted the students to prove their capability by producing good academic results but not arrogance.
Stating that the present Naga society is sick and evil, he said that there is a need to produce new breed of God fearing and honest generation.
