DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 14: POINTING out uncertainties owing to the dynamic nature of socio-political situations and various other developments in the State, Director General of Police (DGP), LL Doungel, cautioned the State senior police officers to ‘keep their antennas raised’ to enable the department anticipate and deal with any eventualities in the future.
The DGP said this in his address during the conference of the Nagaland Police Senior Officers held on October 12 at the PHQ’s conference hall.
While outlining the challenges that lay ahead for Nagaland police, the DGP expounded on the importance of physical fitness of officers and men and how it has a bearing on the public perception of police in general. He also stressed on the necessity for the State police to embrace and adopt modern policing techniques, encouraged the officers to be sensitive to the issues and problems of men and also to look after their welfare.
He also espoused adoption of scientific men management by emphasising on the importance and benefit of police leadership to be innovative, resourceful and enterprising.
The conference was chaired by Rupin Sharma, ADG (L&O), where presentations on matters relating to general administration of the department were made by G Akheto, ADG (Admn) and PF Zeliang, IG (Hq). Presentations on administrative problems and issues of Police Commissionerate/ DEFs and NAP/ IR units were made by Wapang Jamir, IG (Range) and Bendang Lemtur, IG (NAP) respectively.
There were also presentations on good practices by Joseph Hesso, SP (Kohima), James Kinghen, CO 9 NAP (IR) and Rothihu Tetseo, CO 10 NAP (IR).
A detailed presentation on practices and pitfalls in Nagaland Police and remedies was made by ADG (L&O), which was followed by feedback and discussions on the issues raised and suggestions put forward.
