Participants and organisers of the Police Baptist Church Mon Youth Department Sports Ministry’s second edition open penalty shootout in Mon on September 28.


DIMAPUR — The Police Baptist Church Mon (PBCM), Youth Department Sports Ministry organised a penalty shootout event on the theme “Victory through faith” (1 Corinthians 15:57) at DBS Ground, Mon.


The event was attended by Kanchan Kumar Kandpal, superintendent of police, Mon district, as the special guest, according to a press release.


Speaking on the occasion, he expressed the department’s commitment to supporting youth initiatives and highlighted its readiness to assist the youth department in various endeavours. He also stressed the importance of engaging youth in sports to promote physical fitness and good health.


Also present was Ado Yanlem, additional superintendent of police, who, the release mentioned, contributed to the success of the tournament. It was further noted that he is also involved in the youth department’s Vehicle Project as convenor.

A total of 62 teams from wards, schools, colleges, churches, and prayer groups participated in the shootout.


The Vikings won the tournament, while Bohlim Creation secured the runners-up position. The award for Best Keeper went to Bendang. The semi-finalists were Mon Town Football Lovers and PBCMYD Sports Ministry.


The prize money was sponsored by Pangwang Deacon Champion’s team, Noko Deacon, and Tankai BHM Runners-Up team. Semi-finalist sponsorship was contributed by Joseph, Khongwang, and O Manwang, while the Best Keeper award was sponsored by Phenongkiu JA.
